   Stevens Point is centrally located in the state, on the Wisconsin River, at the intersection of Interstate 39 and State Highway 10 in Portage County.   The population of Stevens Point is 25,056.  The city covers 16.8 square miles.   Stevens Point became a city in 1858 and is known as the 'Gateway to the Pineries.'
