The Community Development Office for the City of Stevens Point has available low-interest loans for building improvements. The loan funds availability is on a first-come-first-served, meaning funding is limited. The low-interest loan must be used for physical improvements to the property, or brick and mortar. Funds can not be used to purchase stock items or displays for a business. All exterior improvements made to the property, are subject to approval by the Historic Preservation/Design Review Commission. This commission is appointed by the Mayor and meets on an as needed basis.
The low-interest loans are made in matching amounts, thus the owner must invest at least the same amount as the low-interest loan. A minimum low-interest loan is $5,000, and a maximum low-interest loan $30,000. The term of the loan is 10 years, with 0% interest years 1-5; and 3% interest years 6-10. Loan security is required.
For more information about receiving a low-interest loan, please contact John Gardner, Community Development Director, at 1515 Strongs Avenue, Stevens Point, WI
